Fabio Santos
AI · MIT NANDA · Tampa

Building agentic AI at the source, and bringing it back to Brazil.

I research at MIT through the NANDA consortium on the Internet of AI Agents, build production agentic systems from the US, and translate the frontier into something Portuguese-speaking builders and executives can actually use, 32 years in IT, now pointed at AI.

Notebook · me, in cards

Some thoughts, milestones, and what I'm fighting for.

Different from the resume. These are the moments that shaped me, and the things I'm trying to build right now.

1993 · where it started

I started configuring routers in car dealerships.

Before AWS, before "the cloud" was a noun. I wrote Perl because Python wasn't there yet. Some habits, read the logs, trust nothing until you see it, never left.

19 years old

One of the first Brazilians certified in HP OpenView NNM.

Back then it was the only serious tool to manage enterprise networks. I was a teenager handling Motorola, Lexmark, Caixa Consórcios, and Sul América network ops.

2001 → 2011 · Cielo

Ten years inside LATAM's largest payment processor.

I led the team that pioneered AWS adoption there in the early 2010s, back when "the cloud" was still a weather forecast for most regulated banks. We cut 70% of transactional cost in 15 months.

2017 · co-founder

I co-founded a 100% AWS crypto exchange from scratch.

CSO at BitcoinTrade. Microservices on Lambda + Fargate + EventBridge. IaC end-to-end. Multiple deploys per day. This was before "web3" became a slogan.

2023 · Liqi → Itaú Digital Assets

I led the build of CaaS for Itaú Digital Assets.

3,000+ TPS sustained under $10K/month of operational cost. Aggressive serverless, cost-aware autoscaling, real-time risk plumbing. A top-tier Brazilian bank running on the platform.

Today · LP Digital Hive

My own venture: AI infrastructure for enterprises.

Multi-tenant agentic AI platform on AWS. RAG + agent orchestration + LLM gateways with real FinOps and real SLOs. I'm hands-on every day, not CEO with a deck.

Research · NANDA at MIT Media Lab

My fight: bring a NANDA Charter to Brazil.

I'm an active participant in Prof. Ramesh Raskar's NANDA consortium, the project building the open infrastructure for the Internet of AI Agents. The next step I'm pushing for: establish an official NANDA Charter in Brazil, plug our researchers and builders directly into the global agentic web conversation.

MIT Professional Education

Data Science, ML & AI, and now Chief Digital Officer & AI.

First track done. CDO & AI in progress (2025–2027). So I can sit across the table from any executive and speak both languages, engineering and the boardroom.

Writing · Mundo do Marketing

A monthly column translating AI for business people.

One of Brazil's largest marketing portals. My job there: turn the tech behind GenAI into something marketing, sales, and ops leaders can actually use, without the hype.

EN · PT · ES

Three native-level languages on the same day.

Morning standup with a client in São Paulo. Afternoon design review with a PM in Madrid. Evening on-call in Tampa. No translator in between.

How I work

"Most AI demos are slideware. I build the part that has to wake up at 3 AM and still work."

Same discipline as payment systems on-call: cost-aware, observability-first, blameless post-mortems, real SLOs with real consequences. Direct SDK over framework lock-in. Terraform over click-ops.

Office Hours

Four free 45-min slots open every month.

For engineers shipping AI features and execs trying to figure out where to bet. Bring a real problem. I'll bring 32 years of pattern-matching plus production AI work.
